One of the producers at PJA shared this presentation with me. The Real Life Social Network. I’m still wading through it and I didn’t want to lose track of this.
Related to the social network is Question and Answer sites like Yahoo! Answers. They all seem to be trying to address the credibility question of social media: Quora Fluther
The second video from Microsoft’s Ad Campaign was recently released – “Inspiration, Anyone?” – driving people to Get Inspired Here. “The Break Up” (the first video in the campaign) got a lot of attention and people talking.
The second one hasn’t received much love. My favorite part is when the Creative Director is randomly called into an impromptu client meeting. His first reaction – “What’s up? Bigger logo?” – the client laughs and gives the creative director a slap on the back.
This campaign makes a point that we often try to impress upon clients. People spend more and more time online, yet a disproportionate amount of their advertising dollars are directed to traditional media. Microsoft’s site reports that people’s time spend online is 30% to 40% and advertising expenditure is 9%. The Get Inspired web site is a little light on content right now, but it appears to be a good start as a resource for marketers and advertisers to get inspired or re-invigorated about advertising.
OpenHere is the agency doing the campaign with Microsoft. At Bring The Love Back the Microsoft Marketing Manager maintains a blog about the project.
